| Dramm is pleased to announce the NEW Dramm Strand irrigation system for capillary mat. Designed to evenly distribute water over capillary matting without getting in the way of the plants on the surface, Dramm Strands uses pressure compensated emitters and perforated drip tube to supply water to the mat for plants to wick up through the media. When combined with our lower capacity Capillary Mats, the Dramm Strands allow for more precise watering. Because our mats are lower capacity, they are able to dry down, preventing a constantly wet surface below the plants. Unlike other capillary mats that hold more water, our mats help reduce disease pressure and algae growth. With Dramm Strands, Dramm will design your irrigation system and provide details on run-time for optimal irrigation for each bench. It is important not to overwater capillary mat to prevent uneven watering and puddling on the mat. Knowing the capacity of each mat and the flow rate of the irrigation system allows the grower to offer precise amounts of water to the plants on the bench. Depending on the container size and plant variety grown, pulse irrigation with our capillary mat may be necessary for complete watering.
